Padbrook Park Golf Course
Cullompton, Devon
|
 |
Lots of changes since Ive played here. A new hotel has been
built, and another 9 holes being added in time for 2009. I remember padbrook
fondly, as I used to play a lot there, worth the trip and well recommended.
Very well presented. |

Royal North Devon
Westward Ho!
|
 |
A top quality championship links course and the oldest course
in the country. You get a sense of history as you battle your way around
this windswept links course. I did'nt have a particularly good day here
as I shot over 100. |
| Saunton Golf Club |
 |
This is one of the top courses in the UK. used as an Open
qualifier on many occasions and home to many top national and international
pro events. I have played the course 4 times and have still to get over
the huge wooden/railway sleeper bunker on I think the 7th in 2 yet ! |
| Sparkwell Golf Club , Plymouth |
 |
A nice little 9 hole parkland course just on the outskirts
on Plymouth. Ive played here a couple of times, and my memories of the
course is a nice, neat and compact course, a challenge in its own way,
and difficult holes. |
| St.Mellion , Cornwall |
 |
I played one of the, at the time 2 championship course (
they now have 3 ). I played the Nicklaus course , it poured with rain
all round, but wow, what a fantastic challenge. I shot over 100 on the
day but really didn't care. Beautiful. |
|
Stover Golf Club
Newton Abbot
|
 |
Stover was 6 miles from my cottage on Dartmoor so Ive played
here quite a lot. Beautifully manicured course, some tough holes, especially
the 18th which you have to cross the stream just before the green. Well
recommended. |
| Teignmouth
Golf Club |
 |
Teignmouth is ontop of a hill, and a heathland course. Suffers
a little from fog, as both times Ive played there its been very foggy.
However, stay out of the rough and it's a great course. Lots of hazards
to avoid but I would love to play teignmouth again sometime. |
|
Teign Valley Golf Club
Chudleigh , Devon
|
 |
Played here dozens of times. What a great course this is.
Up and down, under roads, across lakes , down side of hills, it's got
everything. Beautiful scenery too, wait till you get to the top of the
16th hole. Well recommended. |
| Torquay Golf Club |
 |
Another one of my ex 'home' courses. A good parkland course
with fantastic views across Lyme Bay. Quite long too with a challenge
for all golfers. I played the course about a dozen or so times alas never
really mastered it either. Good course. Centenary year in 2009. |
| Woodbury Park Golf
Club
Devon |
 |
This course is superb. Owned by ex Formula1 driver Nigel
Mansell OBE the course has world class facilities and championship standard.
Played here twice and Its an awesome challenge to anyone. Mr.Mansell has
spent a fortune here and done a fantastic job. ( Look for his Ferrari
& Renault F1 cars on display in reception) |

Woodsome Hall Golf Club
Huddersfield
|
 |
A beautiful parkland course that is both long , and a real
challenge. Ive played this only once , a long time ago, but I certainly
remember its sprawling beauty, and the difficulty of the course. |
| Wrangatan Golf Club |
 |
Half heathland and half parkland Wrangatan is a good mix,
with the first 9 being played with the sheep, and Dartmoor ponies as partners.
beautiful wild and windswept landscape and certainly worth playing , especially
for the roped fences surrounding the first 9 greens to keep the animals
off. |
